The check engine light went on after several dish lights began to blink:
First the brake light, then the ABS, then the battery, then the air bag light, finally the check engine light.
The next morning the car would not start and could not be jumped.
The mechanic replaced the old battery and then determined that the alternator was shot so replaced that. The car now runs well, but the check engine light is still on.
The diagnostic code showing when I asked them to check after replacing the battery and the alternator was P0030.
Could this have occurred as a result of not getting the voltage when the alternator died? Or is it more likely that this is an unrelated problem that needs to be addressed?
