does the intake manifold have to be replaced to fix this problem or are there various parts that can be replaced

P2017 Intake manifold runner position sensor circuit high

This all depends if the intake manifold flow valve is jammed, which may have cause the runner position to short out, Circuit high codes are disconnection codes or open circuits so there is just that possibility you may just be able to replace the variable induction solenoid. Here is a manifold runner sensor removed and found the cause for the code the valve was jammed, the fix was to replace the intake manifold also
