Which possible problem should I check first? Which are repairable by me, and which should I take in for service?

most likely the throttle body is dirty and will need to be cleaned.

after the throttle body is clean the idle will have to be adjusted which might be hard which a Nissan Consult 2 or 3.

you can try it this way and may have have to adjust the idle, remove the intake tubing (turn the key on DONT START THE CAR) have someone sit in the car and press the gas pedel the throttle plate will open you can you spray throttle body cleaner on the rag and clean the dirt of the throttle

if your idle is not at 650-750 after doing cleaning it and the car is warmed up
